"...the crystals measured up to 12 meters long (over 36 feet) with a single crystal weighing approximately 55 tons....Millions of years ago, volcanic activity filled the mountain with anhydrite, a waterless form of gypsum. As magma eventually cooled, the anhydrite began dissolving, enriching cave waters and allowing gigantic crystals to form. Amazingly enough, the size of the crystals has no limit and given enough time will grow to even larger proportions."

ICE BURIAL
“Keeper of the faith, Jörmundur Ingi, leader of Iceland’s pagans, stands in their Reykjavík burial ground. The old religion faded as the Vikings adopted Christianity. But change came slowly. Some became not-so-peaceful missionaries, seeking converts by the sword. Viking times are ancient history, yet something, Jörmundur thinks, lives on. ‘Cattle die, kindred die, every man is mortal,’ states an Icelandic poem. ‘One thing that never dies: the glory of the great deed.’”

A CRIMSON GRAIL
A Crimson Grail is 3 recordings by Rhys Chatham of a 400 guitar ensemble outside and inside France's largest church, the Sacré-Cœur, in Paris. The entire live performance lasted 12 hours, so this recording is only a small piece. But the sound of these live documents is absolutely monumental. Maximum volume yields maximum results.

ECHO QUIET
destroying just for no reason
but to wake me up again heartbroken and tall
wind revealing
the dust that the body becomes
the spaces where we stood echo quiet
rubbing eyes
we fill up the empty days
clinging with our things to a windy rock
I reveal myself to you and let the wind take me
obliterated
you know me by my shadow
"flaming home" by mount eerie

AOKIGAHARA
The strange Japanese forest of Aokigahara. "Japanese spiritualists believe that the suicides committed in the forest have permeated Aokigahara's trees, generating paranormal activity and preventing many who enter from escaping the forest's depths. Complicating matters further is the common experience of compasses being rendered useless by the rich deposits of magnetic iron in the area's volcanic soil."

Pierre Huyghe at Secession in Vienna. He sanded down layers of paint on the walls, revealing all the previous coats. The Secession is an incredible art museum. One of the highlights of Vienna for me.
