"The red slender loris, endemic to Sri Lanka, has been classified as endangered and listed on the Red List of Threatened Species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Until this sighting, this particular subspecies of the slender loris had been spotted only four times since 1937. From 1939 until 2002, there had been no sightings of the organism. That led many scientists to believe that the animal had become extinct." News
